Reliable On-Site Oxygen Production for a Fish Hatchery Supporting Wild Fish Conservation

The Landesfischereizentrum Vorarlberg, the official fisheries and aquatic ecology competence center of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, selected the Novair Oxygenium oxygen generator for its hatchery located on the shores of Lake Constance (Bodensee).

The hatchery plays a key role in preserving native fish populations by collecting wild broodstock from Lake Constance, producing fertilized eggs and rearing approximately 20 million whitefish (Coregonus) fry each year before releasing them back into the lake. In addition to whitefish, the center also breeds other native species, including lake trout and brown trout, as part of its conservation and restocking programs.

To ensure optimal breeding and rearing conditions, the hatchery requires a reliable and stable supply of dissolved oxygen throughout the most sensitive stages of fish development.

The Novair Oxygenium oxygen generator produces up to 0.9 Nm³/h of oxygen at 95% purity and 6 bar, providing oxygen on demand directly at the facility. The system ensures stable oxygen conditions while reducing dependence on delivered oxygen and simplifying day-to-day operations.

Thanks to this on-site oxygen generation solution, the Landesfischereizentrum Vorarlberg benefits from a reliable and continuous oxygen supply that supports fish health, breeding success and the long-term conservation of native fish species in Lake Constance.
